Adopt a cat

  • ADOPTION FEES  are a vital contribution to our funds, so we ask for £60 for a cat or kitten. Reluctantly, we have had to increase our fee this year in view of rising costs. It still represents fantastic value for money.  Remember, our cats will have been checked by a vet, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped if over 12 weeks old, had at least their first vaccination, and neutered (or a voucher available for kittens).  All this plus the cost of food and litter  can run into three figures by the time they reach their new home - more if they need any veterinary treatment -  so if you wish to make a donation over and above that amount then it will be very gratefully received!    Our cats also come with free Petplan insurance cover for 4 weeks from the adoption date.
  • HOME VISITS are always carried out before we rehome a cat.  This is to ensure that we match you up with the right cat for you, your family and your lifestyle, so that you have the best chance of a long and happy life together!  It's a chance for you to ask us advice about cat ownership, if it's your first time, and we also give you an information pack with some useful leaflets on cat care, introducing a new cat to your home etc
  • NB  If you are thinking about adopting a cat, don't start looking until you can take him straight away - he'll need some time with you to help settle into his new home.  If you have holidays booked, wait until you come back to start looking, as we can only reserve cats for a few days.
  • Please also consider your ability to meet the considerable ongoing expenses that responsible animal care represents.  These matters should be discussed before the adoption proceeds.
  • If you see a cat you like please get in touch as soon as you can because if they have caught YOUR eye they will have done the same with someone else!
  • If you wish to adopt a cat, please email us at adoptacat-basingstoke@hotmail.co.uk  Our phone line can get very busy, so we would prefer you to email
